The week before the big race we were the guests of Club Zopilotos of Tijuana...

...Mexico to run some trails south of the border near a poblado called Jacume. We saw decomposed granite-filled trails that gave a variety of terrain to play on. We can only imagine how it would have been if we had the rains that we're getting right now in this corner of the world.

  1. When we were in Mexico the week before Baja, we went to run with Club Zopilotos out of Tijuana, Mexico. Here's most of the crew.
  2. Oscar Velez's Toyota looked almost new when we last saw him. In just 9 short months, this is what he has done to it. Jeez, way to beat on your ride, Oscar.
  3. Here's some of the Club Zopilotos crew again, and you can just make out the 5KXJ. It was pulled out of our mothball fleet, spruced up a bit, and run into Mexico to run with the Club Zopilotos crew. We usually don't drive our own rigs during trailrides, but this time we brought a co-driver to handle it while we snapped pics.
  4. This is what happens when your good truck gets hit and you don't want to get rid of it since it still has a good frame & drivetrain. Felipe Pacheco moved his cab back, modified the stock suspension, and tucked some 44-inch Swampers under his cab truck Dodge.
  5. And this is what happens sometimes when big guys try to pick on smaller guys. Pacheco was busy trying to drive on top of another guy's Toyota when his Dodge went up & over. It was nothing that a club full of guys couldn't take care of.
