Ram

Since this buggy will not only be at home in the dirt, rocks, mud and sand, but also act as the ultimate street driven grocery getter...

... I decided to go with a steering box and ram assist front steering.  Though not as common as full hydraulic in most tube buggy rock crawlers, I felt that for the safety factor there just had to be a full mechanical attachment between the chassis and front axle knuckles.  This also required a double cross over steering set up to get a level draglink and panhard bar.  Needless to say this complicated everything alot, but should allow for a reliable steering system both on and off road.  To make a strong mount for the PSC steering gear but still make it fit into the design of the car I again dimple died some gussets out of .090 chromoly sheet and formed a thick mounting plate from 3/8-inch chromoly plate.  Also note the DOT approved headlights from HAmsar.  Sold as snow plow lights these units have both high and low beam capability, waterproof plugs and turn signals.  time to get back to it.
