Every day we get a little closer to the Fun buggy being done...
...here at Poly Performance (www.polyperformance.com). We spent the last two days working on the rear suspension, and axle. The first step was installing a Currie anti-rock sway bar. We went with the 35 ¾-inch universal kit, and put a slight bend in the steel arms to clear the shocks and air bumps at full compression.
Next Drew Burroughs, fabricator extraordinaire finished welding up the threaded inserts for the upper rear suspension links. The lower links are heat treated 1 ¾-inch .188 wall chromoly for “insane strength” while the uppers are 1 ¾-inch .120 wall DOM with threaded inserts. Stay tuned for photos of the trick pinch bolts design to keep the rod ends from loosening up.
The rear axle has grown in leaps and bounds from when it arrived from Dynatrac (www.dynatrac.com). First the rear truss/hydraulic ram mount was installed along with the lower link mounts and ¼-inch pads where the air bumps will hit. Now it also has the Poly Performance (www.polyperformance.com) rear axle truss, sway bar link mounts, shock mounts and a small pulley so we can winch down the rear suspension when we want a low center of gravity. More updates in 48 hours as well as a video of the chassis if we can figure out how to post it. See you then.
