Last night I built a roof for my buggy out of 1/8-inch aluminum.
I got a few large sheets of aluminum from Industrial Metal Supply and they have been valuable for making body panels, fuel cell, and the rear storage boxes. You may wonder why I need a roof for a buggy, and most of the time I won’t need it, but if you ever roll over in the sand it’s nice to have a roof that won’t sink into the sand like a tube cage will.
Drew from Poly Performance and I have also been working on the interior dash. It’s complicated to fit the transmission shifter, transfer case shifters and the rear steer control valve in a clean, simply, and effective lay out that won’t take a month to fabricate, but we think we nailed down a final plan last night (after spending time on at least three different designs over the past few months). This is one of those issues with a custom buggy. Making everything fit and still be a comfortable place for hours of wheeling takes time. I’ll post updates as we get the inside sorted out.
