“Here are a few pictures of my 2001 Toyota Tundra running the Rubicon last summer. My truck is currently at Trail Works Off Road Equipment in Gallatin, TN, where owner Brent Mann is working a little magic on it in preparation for the upcoming UA. The factory rocker panels have been cut off the bottom of the cab and about 3” has been trimmed off the bottom of the factory doors. The goal is to boatside the cab and retire the current rock sliders that I fabricated about 4 years ago. Ever since I clocked my Atlas t-case and flattened out the belly, the current rock sliders have been the sticking point on obstacles. Now 1-1/2”, 0.120” wall DOM tube will be welded in place of the factory rocker panels to serve as rock sliders and 3/8” thick UHMW Polyethylene backed with 1/8” dimple die steel will serve as skid plates angling downward from the new sliders to the frame rails. We should pick up about 3” of ground clearance at the body sides when all is said and done. Staun internal bead locks and 37x12.50x17 BFG MT KM2 tires will also soon be installed on my current Allied steel wheels. I have modified the stock door hinges to be quick release and a set of custom tube doors are also currently being fabricated by Trail Works.”
