In some last minute vehicle shuffling, it works out that Tom Cherry's K30 will be running as Offroad Design's UA08 vehicle and luckily, it was already ready to go.
Tom re-bodied his K5 frame last winter with a K30 cab and tube bed and also stretched the wheelbase about 4 inches along with adding a TH400 trans between his multiport 406 and ORD Doubler. Since his truck was ready for Easter in Moab, prepping for the Ultimate Adventure so far has consisted of running a mini-adventure over a long weekend here in western Colorado and fixing up the resulting body damage. The right front fender took a pretty sharp crease from rock point that was a bit too close so it's getting a "new" (new being a relative term for a suburban fender from the mid '80s) fender and some new stickers. Other than fixing a few oozing seals, the only real work left is mounting the awesome new BFG 40" KM2's on the Trail Ready HD17 one piece beadlocks and packing the camping gear. Being in this position is great, the stress of finishing a rig for the 1st time on a big trip like this takes a lot of the fun out of the whole process.
