Rage 4th (Jeff's friend's race team) headquarters has been a buzz with bodies working on this poor old CJ. It seems like for everything we fix there have been two things we find to add to our lists.
This was a running Jeep a couple weeks ago and now look at it! I've come to the conclusion that working on your Jeep leads to... working on your Jeep. Example; laying under the Jeep cleaning the underbody (ya real important) I see a motor mount crack, while checking how bad the motor mounts is I notice the pitman arm nut is visibly loose. Up front tightening the pitman arm we notice that some rubber is sticking out from the harmonic balancer and 1/3 of the rubber is missing, while replacing the harmonic it becomes apparent that the fan clutch is wobbling, while changing out the fan clutch it's decided that we should replace the belts. Had I just gone in, laid on the couch and watched my 2007 UA video instead of laying under the Jeep none of this would have needed to be done.
We are just now to the point where 1 hour of wrenching doesn't net 2 hours worth of new issues found. I'd say the ratio just turned in our favor to about 1 hour spent nets :30 of new stuff. If I were a mathematician I'm sure I could figure out just what the rate of "doneness" is and what the eventual ETD (that's estimated time of done) will be. But I'm not a math wiz I'm a Jeeper so my best guess is that it will be done at the very last minute, like always.
Like the picture shows sometimes reverse is the best way forward a few weeks to go and we've backed up to this point . Parts have been showing up daily from companies like Hushpower and Daystar to revive this skeleton to a living, breathing Adventure seeking machine. We're grabbing second gear and will be heading for the finish line. Wish us luck.
I have to thank the Rage 4th crew -Brian, Ryan, John, Mark, Ben, Reebles, and mainly Brad from "B-Rad Fab" who has been here every day. I couldn't do it with out you guys, not even close.
