You guys read that right, we are on our way to the 2008 Ultimate Adventure! The UA-Z71 is already at the location, we're not far behind... well...
So myself, Jason Gonderman, your Online Editor, along with Fred Williams, Tech Editor, and Alan Huber, Art Director set off this morning on our drive to the 2008 Ultimate Adventure. Now before you get excited I have a few things to tell you. First, no I am not going to tell you where we are headed. Second, you have no way of knowing if this is happening in 'real time' or has already happened, that's the beauty of the web, we could have finished UA last week or last month and just started to tell you about it now. Don't you just love me?
Anyway, on to the journey. Alan and I started out at our World Headquarters in Los Angeles where we readied our vehicle, the Toyota Land Cruiser Project Vehicle. Once loaded down we strapped in and headed over to the Warehome to pickup Fred and see what vehicle he ended up with for the trip. To our surprise Fred had spent all night prepping the Army Truck for the trip (and I'll let him tell you more about that later).
Once on the road temperatures started to soar and it quickly reached triple digits. Having no A/C Fred waved us over to stop for lunch and a cool down, when on the off-ramp he notices there is no power assist to the steering or brakes, pumps out. Long story short we source a new pump and swap it out in a parking lot north of Las Vegas (any idea where we're going yet?) in 113 degree heat.
After fixing the pump we headed back on down the road until after dark then decided it was enough for one day and pulled off for some food, some sleep, and a little blogging. We'll be back on the road tomorrow morning. Check back tomorrow for another update on our journey. If today was any indication of things to come it's going to be a wild trip. Stay tuned.
