Cutting The Grass

There is just something about that smell.

Yard work is hard work, but hard work is good work and good for you. With the winds picking up here in the dry southwest yard work can be more like debris relief than anything else. I’m constantly astonished at what people here in So Cal have to deal with and what they consider a nice yard. I can’t tell you the last time I drove anywhere around here and saw someone kid cutting his front lawn with a push mower. For me that’s a past time that seemed like such a choir when I was young, but as I got older the basic exercise and smell of fresh cut grass made it an enjoyable experience. Don’t get me wrong, it can get old fast, especially on those high heat and humidity days. I think that may be what I miss most about the south, the smell of fresh cut grass. And no, I won’t come cut your grass!
