Yesterday I awoke in Pocatella Idaho, in the back seat of the Dodge 3500 I’m towing with. It was a bit frigid when I went to sleep so I decided I’d pack my 5-foot 8-Inch frame in the back seat, and I fit pretty good. I started by folding up the back seats of this 2009 quad cab and folding down the level platform decks. This made for a flat surface to sleep on and by adding the mattress from my swag and my coleman sleeping bag I had a great bed.
In the morning I awoke and it wasn’t very warm in the truck any more. There was frost on everything outside, and my sleeping bag was rated for a few degrees warmer than the inside of the truck. Luckily I had the keys close by and I clicked the remote start button. The 6.7 Cummins cranked over and rumbled to life. I closed my eyes for another 20 minute nap and let the truck idle up to operating temperature. I had left the heat on the night before and with the engine running it soon filled the truck with some warm air. Before long I was out of my sleeping bag and heading down the road to Montana! I arrived in Missoula last night around 6pm (after stopping in a few different small towns to explore) and will be going snow wheeling tomorrow.
