Since I am back here on the east coast for a little while I decided to cruise my ’04 Subaru by National Speed in Wilmington, NC for a custom tune. For those of you who are not as familiar with the Subaru WRX, they are one of the most dominating cars in the sport of rally racing and a great performance platform to build from since the car is all-wheel drive. Equipped with a small list of mods my turbo powered 2.0L is an easy engine to pull a few extra ponies out of given the right tune and experienced tuner. So, with a little time to spare Taylor “Tune Time” King hopped behind the wheel of my wagon and strapped it into their all-wheel drive state-of-the art Dyno to see what kind of power he could unlock for me. After a couple of pulls, the power gains were bigger than I ever expected, jumping up from 195HP at the wheels to 238! No generalized programming or dangerous fuel curves here, as National Speed works with each car to net the highest performance safely. Let’s here it for 43 more horses!
