Rollovers happen when you least expect them. As a way to round out the night a few friends and I thought a quick spin up Rocky Mountain loop (a trail in the Uwharrie National Forest) was in order. I haven’t driven my Danger Ranger in a long while so I was thoroughly enjoying the evening. So when an interesting line choice becomes a cab crunching experience I was definitely surprised to say the least. I’ve been planning on building a set of half doors for the truck, but since I don’t have any spare time hardly I have simply been taking the doors off. This giant opening allowed a fairly good sized chuck of the giant rock in the picture to find its way into my cab and my side, yeah ouch.
After a few minutes of cleaver winch placement and help from my friends (thanks again guys) we had the truck righted. Still on the side of the hill we drug it up a little way’s and pulled the spark plugs out and let the oil pass through. It took a little bit of clean up, but we managed to pack in just about everything that spilled, rolled, or got tossed out. I had been contemplating what the next step for the Ranger was going to be and once I get it cleaned back up I will hopefully have a better idea of where to go from here. The worst part of the rollover was that I had to cut the seatbelt to get out of the truck. The good news is that I was still able to fire it up and drive it back to my trailer, but it definitely felt more than a little sketch with no doors and no seatbelt.
