What will it be?

As many of you will soon find out (next month’s issue) I have propelled my Heavy Metal Mudder into Phase II of the build. My goal is to have 500hp to help spin the massive Boggers. What engine got the pick? Well I am not ready to come right out with it, but if you can figure it out from the photo I guess I will let you go ahead and spill the beans.

3. Well, it doesn't have the heads of a Hemi, and I would hope that you would stick to a Mopar engine. So I am going to have to guess that it is still the 5.9L Magnum V-8 engine. It doesn't look too big in the engine bay, just like the regular 5.9 looks, however that is definitely an aftermarket intake and high flow throttle body.
Based on that I am going to have to guess that you are going to be writing (have already written) a series of articles on how to build the 5.9L Magnum V-8 into a POWERHOUSE!!!!
Am I anywhere close to being accurate with my assumption? Either way I am looking forward to it as this Heavy Metal Mudder is one of the best rigs to come out of the magazine yet!!!

9. It's not the 8.0L, but rather the newer 8.3L Viper Engine. Good work!

11. OOOOOH!!! An 8.3L Viper V-10!!! SWEET! I must make a request though... would it be possible for you to make some online video, or even just post some YouTube links of some video of the Heavy Metal Mudder in action once you get the engine in? I would really like to see it in action out in Johnson Valley where you took some of the pictures of the rockcrawling tests, and if you have video of it with the 5.9L now and then once you get the 8.3L in?? Thanks Ali!

12. I don't have any video of it with the 5.9L. As soon as we get the V-10 converion done, I think I can make that happen.

13. I'm wondering if Heavy Metal Mudder will be part of next years UA? I think it should be. I love to see the projects ya'll do go on UA!

14. I am not sure about UA. It's always an option, but it would need a nice cage and a bit more body protection before it could go on the trip.
