A drill, spray can of paint, and pry bar is all it took.
Recently I caved in a part of my JK's stock front bumper. Now, I will likely replace the stock bumper with an aftermarket unit that accepts a winch before too long, but for now, I didn't want to live with my bumper damage. I know, it seems like a waste of time, but I am sort of particular about my vehicles.
So after looking over the damage I came up with a little on-the-fly bumper repair. Of course I didn't want to spend any money on the job so I simply used stuff I had sitting in my garage.
Since the bumper is comprised of a composite plastic I figured I could just pop the bent part back out. The only problem was, the bumper is made with a dual layer and sealed design. This meant I needed to break out my cordless drill. Next I attached my Uni-bit and drilled an opening in the lower back portion of the bumper.
After the hole was made I slide the pry bar in the opening and slowly pushed the damaged plastic back out. I am pretty sure that there is a better way to do this, but this is what I had around, so there you go. Once I got the bumper pushed out as much as I thought it would go I moved onto the final stage, paint.
Now I didn't want to paint the entire bumper, nor did I feel like removing it from the Jeep. So I simply took a can of Satin Black and lightly dusted the damage area.
The end result came out better than I expected, and unless you get real close, it looks fixed!
