I recently picked up a rumor from some Ford enthusiasts, and though it may be a total story it was good enough that I had to pass it on. It seems the US Border Patrol purchased or is planning to purchase a handful of the new Ford Raptors for patrolling the southern borders of the USA. Seems reasonable enough considering all the desert out there to cover. But it gets better.....
The rumor follows that when the first Raptors went on sale quite a few were ordered for south of the border! Now we're not saying that every one of these high performance factory built prerunners sold in Mexico are going there for illicit activity, but the the rumor continues that the border patrol increased their order after hearing about these purchases from below the border. As far as we're concerned our border patrol should get all the 6.2L powered Raptors and send the smaller 5.4L powered trucks south bound. Not to mention we see nothing wrong with fitting every exported Raptor with a hidden homing beacon and remote shut off switch if need be. Might as well give our boys an upper hand! (Plus we're all for seeing some Raptors at a future impounded vehicle auction so we can get in one cheap!)
Of course these are all rumor and hearsay, but if you happen to be purchasing a Raptor for running contraband illegally, you might just want to rethink it, Amigo.
