My name is CW2 Bill Wencil. I have a UAZ 469 which we received when we first got into Afghanistan. It was basically stock when we got our hands on it. Since then we put side pipes, a hood scoop/air induction system, front and rear bumpers, a 4in lift in the rear to level it, new tires, new seats, and a new aluminum fuel tank. It was a fun night time project throughout the deployment. The hardest part was keeping it running because the parts were hard to get a hold of such as the cap and rotor, plugs and wires. The starter has been an ongoing issue but we found a couple starters and put together what we could. The carb died on us, but we got another used carb, cleaned it up and it has been running well since we installed it. All in all, the jeep is very reliable. We have some very intelligent mechanics who can make just about anything run.
SPC Nick Greer, CW2 Ronnie Williams and myself were the major effort behind keeping the jeep up and running. I attached some pictures of the jeep. I thought that you all might like to see something a little different.
