This time yesterday this truck didn't exist but for a pile of parts at the Ford Rogue factory in Dearborn, Michigan

Today we followed along the assembly line and now we have a completed 2011 F150 that we will soon transform into our 2011 Ultimate Adventure truck.  Stay tuned for more updates as we  begin the modifications needed to transform this high efficiency half ton into an off road adventure mobile.

1. Awesome! I think that trying out the new Ford Ecoboost platform is a great idea! And what better way to put it through the paces than to turn it into the next UA truck... Personally, I believe that a lot of the 4wheel community has interest in this truck and type of power train platform - either because they are V8 diehards and think turbos are for street racers and don't belong in the dirt or because they want to know if a V6 can really handle abuse in full size pickup. I used to be the latter, and still am somewhat, but would love to be proven wrong. The numbers are outstanding on this motor, but what we see on paper isn't always what we see in the real world. I can't wait to see this thing turned into a wheeling rig to show the world what it can (or can't) do! You could call it the UA - T6 (like the Terminator T1, T2, etc) for turbo six cylinder and have a graphic theme with gnarly, yet refined, steel and hardware - ha ha! Ok, maybe that was lame... Anyways, I'll be looking forward to the a PLETHORA of articles on this rig in my mailbox...

2. Please let us know what kind of mileage it gets when it is stock and after you modify it. I'd also be interested in your perspective on building a brand new vehicle for UA versus a used vehicle like the CJ from last year. Is one easier and/or less expensive than the other?

3. Saturday we leave Detroit and head for Phoenix, AZ where we'll start the build up. We'll be keeping track of the mileage on that 2000 mile trip. We may even test it in the dirt...... ;)
